Anti-aging ingredients. Skincare series

Anti-aging – Stress and the polluted environment we live in, have a major impact on the skin. In order to have healthy skin and look younger, we should take care of it inside-out. Of course, no cosmetic product will turn back the time, but it’s very important to give your skin the right ingredients it needs to be radiant, appear younger and smoother, with less fine lines and wrinkles.

Sun protection forms the foundation of every anti-aging skin-care plan. The major cellular destructions are caused by solar radiation: UVA and UVB rays in particular. The sun prematurely ages the skin and cause a lot of damages as fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, freckles, and other discolorations, so a good skin care routine starts with sunscreen regardless of season and age.

After sun protection, the next factor that will help prevent the signs of aging is a balanced diet rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are the only ones that can neutralize free radicals that destroy collagen and elastane. Red grapes, blackberries, blueberries, cranberry, and peanuts are rich in natural antioxidants which can be found in a lot of anti-aging creams as resveratrol.

An anti-aging routine isn’t complete without “skin-replenishing ingredients”- they are also called skin-identical, they dramatically improve skin’s texture, protect skin’s surface against moisture loss. The most common skin-replenishing ingredients are natural oils: as jojoba, argan oil etc., but also special ingredients as ceramides, lecithin, glycerin, fatty acids and many more. They complement vital substances found in skin to help it look smooth and feel supple.

Another key ingredient in anti-aging routine is “Cell Communicating”- this means they are telling the cell to start doing the things a healthy skin cell should be doing. If the cell accepts the message, the cell can then share the same healthy message with other nearby cells and so on and so on. The skin-care ingredients to look for in terms of cell-communicating ability include retinol, retinoic acid, niacinamide, lecithin, carnitine.

In order to have radiant and healthy skin, exfoliation should be your best friend. Removing old skin cells helps your skin care products work better, stimulates the production of collagen and leaves you with a smooth, radiant complexion. One of the best ways to a gentle and deep exfoliation is using the chemical as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs).

It’s never too early to start an anti-aging routine. Every skin type needs the same ingredients to look younger and healthier, less wrinkled, and to help defend against environmental damage that visibly ages skin prematurely. Make sure you are following these steps: cleans, exfoliate (AHA and BHA). protect (sunscreen) and moisturize.
